HGTV

Hey did you guys know that you can enter once a day to win an HGTV dream home?
And this year it is in Hilton Head SC which we vacationed last year and it is beautiful, oh and this house is totally Green...  So go here and enter.
Tomorrow I will post pictures of our new pets...  We got 5, ten month old egg laying chickens!  I am so excited!  Daddy worked all weekend on our coop, I will post pictures of that as well.
Good night.

Congratulations on your new chicks! I have to tell you that I adore having chicks around the house. The sounds they make, their darling little sounds, and the way they fall asleep on your lap and their little beak drops. Darling!

We have three Golden Retrievers and lost several birds to them. We have used shock collars to train them. This sounds horrible and I had my doubts but it worked with just a few training sessions. Our collars first trigger a tone. Then, if the dog fails to respond to the tone, a little shock is given. Our dogs learned to respect the tone right away.

I must tell you that I am not a supporter of shocking dogs or anything like that. I had a very hard time agreeing to this training method but after watching chicken after chicken die because of our dogs... I tried the collar on myself first and the shock didn't hurt -- it just surprised me. we didn't use a high level or anything.

I hope this helps and I hope you don't think that we're terrible people for using that training method. We really did try EVERY other method.

Can't wait to see pictures of your babies!

Blessings!

Oh I am so glad that you don't think I'm terrible! I was so afraid of writing that comment but I am an honest person and you did ask... so I had to confess.

It really did work. We haven't had to use it since then but we have really easy-going dogs. I think it would really depend on your dog's personality. You may have to do some reminder training every few months.

Blessings!

Yay! I can't wait to see pictures. I'll have to post pictures of ours too! Building the coop was a great experience for the whole family! And now raising the chicks is even better. The day before their arrival I was terrified of having all 25 of them. But it has been a SUPER time for us. And it will only get better when they start laying eggs! They are so fun to watch. I stand at the door to their coop and just laugh. Silly lil' things! I am so glad that we decided to start our lil' farm with chicks.

Your family is beautiful! I popped over here from pioneer woman's site and thought I'd say hello.

I love that you are getting chickens. That is one thing missing from my country life. Hop over to my web site if you wish for some pretty pics of boxer dogs, horses and my precious grandaughter!
