Daddy is working late this week, that means he goes to work at 9 and gets home at 6:30, not so bad now that it is staying light longer.
Here is a picture of our chickens. We have 5 of them. The white one talks alot!
They are in a temporary house while Daddy finishes the coop.
Some of our chickens have their back feathers plucked out, this is due to the number of chickens that were in our friends pen, he just had too many so us taking a few will help.
I guess that's where we get the saying "the pecking order".
This kind of siding is called Dutch Lap. Daddy is busy nailing here.

Very cool! Do they lay eggs? Do your kids think of them as pets?
I'd love to have chickens, but in suburban Denver that is generally frowned-upon. One of our old neighbors had a rooster, which made the neighbor quite unpopular.
That is a REALLY nice coop. Nicer than some homes I've seen! Way to go.
Go check out the bloggy carnival. It's insane. I never dreamed so many people would enter.
Gretchen-
Our chickens our 10 months old, and they lay an egg each per day. The kids are really excited about the chickens and we are still trying to decide on names for each of them, so the kids do think of them as pets right now.
Kristen-
Thank you, my husband has worked really hard. The Carnival is huge! And I saw how many comments you received, wow!
Did you say coop or mansion?!! It is beautiful! I can not wait til ours start laying too!
What a fabulous coop!!!!
And your chickens are gorgeous! What are their names?
Blessings!

I must admit, I am a little jealous of the chickens. I have always thought it would be fun to live off the land, raise some animals, etc. What a great learning experience for the kids. Of course, we are also the people that kill every pet we end up with so maybe chicken's aren't such a good idea!
I made the cookies from your recipe. They are good and sooooo simple! Thanks bunches!
Bunch of bullers- Thank you! Daddy has worked very hard!
One more=4- I think the chickens are great!
Lacy- the large white chicken will be called Dottie, we have a black chicken I want to call Velvet and the boys what to call her Coal'e' we will see who wins, and the red chicken I want to call Penny. Not sure about the other two white and black chickens yet.
That is such a great looking coop! I had something else pictured in my mind so was very surprised to see it. I love the names Penny and Velvet...I think you should win that one!
