I can't beieve I did this.

Our oldest son Luke has had 2 wiggly front top teeth for a few months now and last Saturday the corn on the cob did him in.  It was hard to eat and even a bit painful.  Although he was totally unwilling to pull the dangle tooth.
Now Sunday rolls around and the tooth is barely hanging on, Luke decides he wants to pull the tooth at 8 pm.  HD ties fishing line on the tooth so tight there is no turning back and then Luke starts to cry he changed his mind, he wants to keep the chocking hazard one more day.  We spend the next few minutes trying to encourage him to pull the tooth.
Luke has already lost the the bottom 2 teeth and each time he is ready and the tooth is so ready we have tied a string on the tooth and then the boy changes his mind, I am all for the tooth coming out when it's ready but we have waited until the point that he could choke in his sleep.  Each time we have done this tooth tied on a string routine Luke has made a 35 minute procrastination production of it, it's not real fear or the fear of pain because he is a very rough and tumble kind of boy, I'm not sure what takes him so long but inevitably at the last minute HD grabs the string and pulls the tooth out for him, I gasp, Luke cries and HD says that wasn't so bad and we admire the lost tooth put it in a special glass tooth box the boy gets a dollar all is well The End!
Back to the story, last Sunday the tooth is barely hanging on, HD has promised not to grab the string this time and yank without warning, and Luke is trying to talk himself into pulling the tooth.  We give him a hug I held him on my lap then HD held him on his lap.  We even tried to cheer him on which made him mad I might add.  After 30 minutes of this I was tired, it was 8:30 it had been a long week, I came out of no where and grabbed the string, I pulled with all my might, out it popped, I have no idea what came over me, and I had made no promises.  Luke was shocked!  I was shocked, HD was shocked!
After the last two teeth Luke went around proud to tell everyone that his daddy pulled his tooth, glad to be a dollar richer.  But he was really mad at me, even after I slipped a dollar under his pillow he thanked his Daddy.  He has told even told people that his daddy pulled his tooth last Sunday, when I asked him why he didn't want people to know that it was mommy who pulled his tooth he said it's a boy thing, mom....  It's just not for you to do.

And so it begins "It's a boy thing, Mom" Oh no!

Welcome to the next stage! It's scary to think the misunderstanding between the sexes applies even to parent-child relationships . . .

That's too funny! I would have probably done the same thing. Been there. If only they could stay little and sweet:) I'm sure he's still sweet but there are times...

I've got to go with Luke on this one. I can't stand to even wriggle my kids teeth.. It completely grosses me out. You are a brave Momma!

Has anyone really choked on a tooth? I would think it would just get swallowed.... like a kernel of corn or something.
Tony did that to Emily once. She wanted him to. I just figure it will come out when it's ready.

Stacy~ you should know being dramatic runs in the family! I am sure no one has ever really chocked on a tooth, but it sure makes me feel better for running up all crazy and pulling it out! I loved pulling and wiggling my own when I was little.
