Sincerely Fro Me To You ~ Age 18

This picture was taken about a month after I got married,  we were married on Oct 29,1996 and this picture was taken right before Christmas for a modeling contest I was entering.  I was only 18 in this picture, hard to believe it was 12 years ago.  I saw an ad in the paper for a modeling tryout and I went.  I was excepted and off my career would go or so I thought.  First let me say I had the weight right I was a size 1 yes you read that size 1 which is way to small I think ever rib stuck out I was sickly, I was a newlywed and I didn't know how to cook, HD traveled and was gone 5 days a week and so I lived on Cheerios's and we ate out on the weekends.  Anyway the modeling company loved the size but I have one down fall that they couldn't overlook I am only 5'3....  That is not super model material.  We went to a beautiful hotel in Louisville Ky called the Taft and we spent several hundred dollars on lessons to walk and learn more about modeling and in the end I was rejected.  More or less I was told not every pretty face is made to model, I was just to short even in high heels!  I loved the 3 weeks of fame I thought I was going to have, and being that I had always struggled with my weight being so small felt great.  Looking back on those pictures today I think I look rather pale and I have absolutely no breasts am flat looking.  And boy did I have alot of make up on!
I am very happy things turned out without fame!  God had big plans for me to be a wife, mother and a teacher and those are the most important things to me and make me very happy!

Hey that looks just like my body in high school! Madi looked at the computer and said mom! Must be the make-up!! Thoses modeling agencies want you to look like a 12 yr old boy. They don't have a clue what pretty is and a lot of them are on drugs anyway!
God chose your path.I've always thought you as being very pretty. You look great now and are a fantastic mom.

Oh man - that type of make up had to have been a theme 12 years ago. My make up looked exactly the same. lol

This was a great post!! Thanks for your comment (and sorry I made you cry)!

Great picture, but I think you look better now! A size 1 is just not natural, LOL!

Thanks for dropping by my blog. Sharing these pictures and telling about them is so much fun!

I mean really, what difference does height matter?! You were beautiful.
And I think big boobs are overrated.
No I don't have them, my twin sister definitely got that gene!

Very pretty! At least it's a good memory...Aren't you glad that the Lord knows better than us. Boy the trouble I'd be in if all my prayers had been answered. I love your blog!

I feel your pin...I'm only 5' 3", and even though I've never had modeling aspirations, I wish I were tall enough to be one, LOL!

Some of God's greatest blessings are the prayers he said "no" to! I had dreams of fame and fortune at one time, but I wouldn't take anything for my little family or the job god has given me to teach them now!

Thanks for sharing!

Oh my that is not the body of a boy! But I agree..that is NOT a natural size LOL! Of course in this mid life post 4 baby body.. I wonder what is natural anymore!

I did the whole model tryouts too...but I was in HS and it wasn't because of the height but just to "chesty"...now today's standards it would be more than accepted...but as a size (3) 5'7 with a c-cup then it wasn't what "they wanted" talk about rejection! Times change and aren't we glad our aspriations did also!

I'm sure that there's NO GREATER JOY THAN TO SEE OUR CHILDREN WALK IN THE WAYS OF THE LORD!

OMGosh, you were sooo tiny! I'm 5'2 and this old body hasn't seen a size 1 since puberty! You are so beautiful-then and now!

You have such a wonderful family and are so blessed! I have to say that hearing you got married at 18 shocked me a little! I hear so many things about young people getting married and the marriages being bad ones. I'm glad you answered the call to be a wife and mother. God had better things in mind for you, although I'm sure you would have made a good model too! It's funny how time shows us what God's great plans are for our lives!

Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day! I enjoyed reading your comment! I hope you stop by again.

I want to clear something up. I was not saying you had the body of a boy by any means. I was trying to point out the fact that that's what modeling agencies seem to want. Sorry, (Marky) if it sounded that way.I'm being sincere. (hard to tell emotions on the computer) HM is my (husbands) cousin and I wouldn't hurt her feelings for the world.

You were pretty, but not half as Beautiful as you are now. I am so happy you choose wife and motherhood over a career in modeling. Let's add teacher to that list, and helpful granddaughter, niece, and daughter. Hey, you help everyone in need, am I bragging, sorry. Girl I can't believe it's only been 12 short, yet it seems so long ago, years.
Say goodbye to Size One and stay beautiful. I love you, Mom
