Yesterday afternoon Luke came to me, he told me "Mama I'm different, I have asked Jesus in my heart, I'm a new person" I was taken back at first, see Luke has innocently asked Jesus into his heart before but when we have set down with the Bible his understanding was a bit off but I'm not going to underestimate his heart! I asked him to come and sit with me and asked him why had he decided to pray that prayer was it because of Ernie dying? He said it was, that he couldn't stop thinking about if he died he wanted to know he was going to be with Jesus. I asked him a few questions like do you know you are what we call a sinner, you have done wrong, he said yes. I asked if he knew that Jesus died on the cross for him and rose again, he said yes on the third day. I asked if he knew that the only way to be with the Father God is to except the free gift of his only son Jesus, and again he said yes, he also said he wanted Jesus to be his best friend.
I am really excited for Luke I really think he has the understanding of salvation. I excepted Jesus in to my heart when I was 9 but had no understanding of a relationship with him, all I knew was I had just gotten a free ticket out of hell. I lived my life with a really worldly view to say the least and when I turned 20 my husband and I rededicated our lives to Christ and I found real freedom, I discovered a relationship with my savior.
We feel like we need to help Luke grow his relationship with Christ and wait for him to talk about Baptism. I just don't want to push him or hold him back but he is still so young only 7 in August.
Bo who is going to be 5 next week asked me at bed time to ask Jesus into his heart for him. I know God smiled at his son not yet really understanding but wanting to know Jesus more. I told him he had to ask and he did, and then he asked me how does he get in there anyway? Very Innocent. Very sweet.
We will be leaving on Friday for the funeral. Pray for the Twice Blessed Family.

What an awesome conversation to have with a child . . .
I can remember asking Jesus into my heart many times as a kid.
I just wanted to make sure! :o)
I am sure God is listening and smiles every time one of His littles does that!
Oh, I'm so sorry for Twice Blessed Mommy! We will be praying for them.
And I totally cried about Luke! That is awesome!
Sorry to hear about TBD's Dad. We send our love & they will be in our prayers. Luther has COPD and I know it can be very bad at times.
Way to go Luke! You make us proud.
I was baptized when I was 6 and I had a descent grasp of the meaning.
I love that he came to you and said that he'd asked Jesus into his heart. That is so beautiful. My friend, Erin, has a wonderful son who would say, "in my heart" if you asked him where Jesus lived. I always thought that was a lovely thing to hear from a child.
Thank you for sharing it with all of us!
Blessings!

here's a good resource for ya regarding baptism and his recent decision: I'm a Christian Now (produced by lifeway). My hubby uses that a lot in our ministry w/kids.
sad too for this recent loss. oh how it makes my heart yearn more for when it's my turn!!
I'm sorry for the Twice Blessed Family. I will pray.
As for your little one, how exciting!
Blessings, indeed. Sweet post. I have a giveaway on my blog if you want to swing by.
